Цель: объединить учеников с разным уровнем обученности по предмету в совместной творческой работе для развития навыков языкового общения и раскрытия индивидуальных творческих способностей обучающихся.
Учебные задачи:
активизировать в речи обучающихся пройденные речевые структуры и новую лексику по теме «Праздники»;
совершенствовать грамматический навык употребления настоящего завершённого времени;
совершенствовать грамматический навык образования отрицательных предложений в прошедшем простом времени.
Развивающие задачи:
формировать языковые и познавательные способности;
ознакомить с историей американского праздника и некоторыми традициями его проведения;
развивать лексический кругозор обучающихся.
Воспитательные задачи:
формировать личность обучающегося способной к творчеству;
формировать систему моральных ценностей (всегда быть благодарным своему Творцу и своим родителям; быть готовым прийти на помощь нуждающемуся);
формировать положительное отношение к культуре и традициям другого народа.

Учитель: Dear friends, we welcome you to our party devoted to one of the great American holidays – Thanksgiving Day.
We’d like to provide you some facts from history regarding this holiday.
To begin with, I want to look at these words. They will help you to understand our speakers and actors (дети хором читают за учителем слова на доске).
Ведущий 1: the first Thanksgiving Day was celebrated by the Pilgrims in 1621. In the fall of 1620 one hundred Pilgrims came to the United States from England.
Ведущий 2: their ship was called “The Mayflower”. Half of the people came for religious freedom. All came for new life. They landed in Massachusetts on the 26 of December in 1620.
Учитель: so you see it happened almost 400 years ago. The life was different then.
Now people live in huge blocks of flats and did people live in blocks of flats 400 years ago? (No, they didn’t. They didn’t live in blocks of flats. They lived in small houses).
Nowadays people wear jeans and T-shirts. What did people wear 400 years ago? Did they wear jeans and T-shirts? (No, they didn’t. They didn’t wear jeans. They wore long dresses).
Nowadays children watch TV and play computer games and what about that time? (Children didn’t play computer games. They work hard all day). Yes, they worked hard all day to help their parents.

Pilgrims children worked hard all day
Pilgrims children had little time to play.
1 ребёнок: the first child swept the floor;
2 ребёнок: the second child washed spoons and plates;
3 ребёнок: the third child helped making mats;
4 ребёнок: the fourth child looked after babies;
5 ребёнок: the fifth child helped making family food;
6 ребёнок: the sixth child chopped lots of wood.
Все дети произносят хором:
Pilgrims children worked hard all day
Pilgrims children had little time to play.
Ведущий 1: though the pilgrims worked hard all day the first winter was terrible. There was much sickness and starvation.
Ведущий 2: the native Americans, the Indians, helped the pilgrims. They taught them how to plant corn and build houses, how to fish and hunt.
Выходит мать и горестно произносит:
Oh, Good Heavens! We have no food left! What shall I say to my poor children!
(Выбегают дети)
1 ребёнок: oh, mummy, we are so hungry! Can you give us something to eat?
Мать: my dear kids! There is nothing left in our pot. We ran out of food we brought from England. I have no idea what to do.
1 ребёнок: oh, mummy, what shall we do?
2 ребёнок: look! There is somebody coming here!
3 ребёнок: they are our neighbors, the Indians.
Вождь индейцев: we greet you, dear lady. Don’t be afraid of us! We are your friends. We know you are in need. We’ve brought you some potatoes, cranberry and corn. We want to teach you how to survive in this country.
2индеец: winter is almost over and you can plant this corn, you can hunt and fish and you’ll have a lot of food here. Look!
(индейцы поют песню и показывают, как они добывают пищу)
This is the way we plant our corn every spring in the morning.
This is the way we get our fish every day in the morning.
This is the way we hunt for our food every day in the morning.
This is the way we dig sweet potatoes every year in autumn.
Мать: thanks a lot dear friends! You saved my children from starvation.
Вождь индейцев: don’t be upset. Everything will be all right. Goodbye, our new friends!
Мать: goodbye, God bless you!
Ведущий 1: so the Indians taught the pilgrims how to plant corn and vegetables. The crops did well and in the fall the pilgrims had a great harvest.
Ведущий 2: they were very thankful to God and decided to make a feast. They invited their Indian friends to share the Thanksgiving dinner.
Ведущий 1: the Indians came to the feast with their presents.
1индеец: I am going to Thanksgiving dinner and I am having a turkey.
2индеец: I am going to Thanksgiving dinner and I am having some nuts and apples.
3индеец: I am going to Thanksgiving dinner and I am having some sweet potatoes and cranberries.
4индеец: I am going to Thanksgiving dinner and I am having a pumpkin.
Мать: oh, thank you for your presents! Let’s praise the Lord for this great harvest!
Blessed be the name of the Lord!
He is worthy to be praised and adored!
Dear Lord, we thank you for your grace and mercy! We thank you for this food you have given us and ask your blessing for it. Amen.
Now, dear guests, we invite you to our Thanksgiving dinner! Help yourselves to these delicious pies and fruit.
Учитель: and now we start our entertaining program.

Приклеить с закрытыми глазами перо на рисунок индюшки.
Игра «Найди индюшку» (clap loudly when the children who are seeking it are near and softly when they are far away).
Игра “Who’s there? Mr. Turkey” (угадать по голосу одноклассника).

Заключение.
Дети читают пословицу: It’s better to give than to receive.
Учитель заканчивает мероприятие словами о том, что нужно всегда быть готовыми помочь тем, кто нуждается в нашей помощи, необходимо всегда быть благодарными Богу за всё в нашей жизни.
